Dear New Sidizens,

Welcome to Rice and, more specifically, welcome to Sid Richardson College and IncognitO-Week! As your Orientation Week (O-Week) Coordinators, we have been anticipating your arrival since January and we cannot wait to see you all soon! We hope to ease your transition into college by providing you with some insight into life in Sid, at Rice, and in Houston.

Sid is more than just a dorm, it is a tight-knit community filled with people who are here to support you. We, along with our entire O-Week team, are absolutely thrilled to welcome you all. As we remember our own O-Week experiences, we understand the mix of emotions you might be feeling. Luckily, our book (coming soon) should help with that!

O-Week at Rice is a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a truly magical time. While it is filled with campus events, academic presentations, as well as many social activities, we want to help you feel at home here at Sid before starting your journey at Rice. We are always here for you and are so excited to welcome you on this journey!

(Anjali & Ben)

  • Meet Anjali, commonly referred to as “the most goated Sidizen of all time.” This Liverpool-loving stuffed animal collector is a junior from the great Arlington, TX studying Sport Analytics & Business. In other words: she’s an academic weapon, but don’t let her fool you — when she’s not crunching numbers, she can usually be found at the gym, listening to The Weeknd on a suspiciously long walk, playing piano, drawing, or preparing for her eventual career as a world geography champion. She can label (nearly) every country on a world map and is currently working on memorizing every flag, which may be the most “Anjali” hobby imaginable. A lifelong soccer player, ping pong enthusiast, and former Batman for Halloween, Anjali has been preparing for IncognitO-Week her entire life. As a proud Sidizen and O-Week Coordinator, she can’t wait to welcome the Class of 2030!

  • Hold up!! You just matched with SID!!! Well you’re in luck because you got THE Ben Sadowski to COORDINATE your amazing O-Week! Ben hails from Madison, New Jersey, but he almost loves flying to random destinations more than his hometown. He’s a senior Physics major, yet basically runs the COMP department like the navy as former head TA of COMP 140. Ask to see his impeccable photo collection, as he is a camera warrior (#you-will-be-sniped). Looking for music recommendations? Well Ben has a ready-made lineup of absurdly niche artists you’ve never heard of but will end up altering your entire Spotify Wrapped.

    When he isn’t dwelling in Sid commons, Ben is probably dominating everyone in ping pong and squash (except maybe Anjali…), obsessively watching Below Deck with his friends, or filling up his iconic and beloved (albeit a little bent) water bottle. If you need someone to lend you a helping hand, a shoulder to lean on, or an Uncrustable (seriously, you should see the collection in his freezer), you can always count on Ben. He is so excited and ready to make your O-Week experience amazing and unforgettable!
