From the Coords

Greetings, future Sidizens!

Welcome to Rice and your new home, Sid Richardson College. We are Sure, Laura and Austin, and we could not be more excited to be your 2023 Sid Richardson O-Week Coordinators. We cannot wait to meet you all in person and be a part of your first experience as the Sid Richardson Class of 2027. We each have cherished memories of our own Sid O-Weeks that have shaped our experience in Sid Richardson College (the best and tallest on campus) and our time here at Rice, and we genuinely look forward to helping each of you create your own.

First and foremost, O-Week is a way for you to familiarize yourself with your resources, peers, and support system here at Rice. It is also a week full of academic planning and college tradition to welcome you to your home away from home (Sid) and prepare you for the next four years of adventure and unforgettable memories. With the guidance and support from your Advisors, Co-Advisors, PAAs, and of course, yours truly, we hope that by the end of the week, you all feel comfortable as a new and essential part of the community that has done so much for every one of us. Each year, a diverse group of new Sidizens start the week as 120(ish) unacquainted individuals, but leave as a community of friends with shared memories that they will keep for life. We know this can be an intimidating prospect, but the memories and friends you make at Camp Ω-Week will last you a lifetime.

We created our O-Week Book to help guide you through O-Week and your time at Sid and Rice as a whole. We can remember the excitement and anticipation that came with the days leading up to our own O-Week, and from this experience, we would encourage y’all to come into O-Week with energy, spirit, and an open mind. You will meet friends for life and find your place in the Sid and Rice community. Your unique background and perspective will make an impact on this community, and we are so excited to meet you in person come O-Week.

Sid Rich Rules, Love From Above,

Team SLA(y)
