Frequently Asked Questions

  • We are working diligently to consider the information you have provided us to assign you to roommates and O-Week groups! We will send this information out to you in mid to late July.

  • An O-Week group consists of 9-12 New Students and 4-5 Advisors. Advisors are upperclassmen students who are so excited to meet you and help to ease your transition into Rice! You will spend the majority of your time with your group throughout the week, and hopefully will form connections that last through your time at Rice.

  • New Students will move in on the morning of August 13th. As move-in day approaches, we will send you specific information about your move-in time. Please respect these move-in times, as it ensures that the entire process runs smoothly!

  • Once you get here! You do not need to worry about selecting classes ahead of time, just work on the modules from the OAA and you will choose classes when you get here. Try not to stress about not having your classes picked out, as there is a whole team ready to support you- from Divisonal Advisors to Peer Academic Advisors and the Advisors in your group. Throughout the week, there will be designated sessions every day for academic planning, so you will have plenty of time to create a first-semester schedule.

  • New Students will move in on Sunday, August 18th. O-Week will consist of a combination of academic and social activities all day from August 18th-23rd. In order to get the most out of O-Week, we ask that students stay on-campus for the entirety of week and wait to see parents until after the week ends.
