Hi! We are the coords

We are Sure, Laura, and Austin (Team SLAy). We liked O-Week a just lil bit 🤏 so we decided to run our own!

We’re all very excited for y’all to come to Sid. We hope that Camp Ω-Week eases your nerves for coming to Rice and that you’ll enter your first semester here with a strong foundation and sense of community.

Feel free to browse the O-Week tab on this Sid Website! We’ll be updating it with super cool pages soon.

If you want to know a little bit more about us, check below to see what our friends wrote!

  • The best way for you to start college is to have Sure as your O-Week Coordinator, so congrats! Currently based in Conroe Texas, Sure has hailed from all corners of the globe. From Nigeria to England, she has a variety of experiences that help her connect with anyone. As a junior English major as well as a data science and business minor, she is very busy. Not to mention she is the Copy Editor for the Campanile Yearbook and her numerous connections with Sid. Having been Sid’s Diversity Committee Head, High Brow Committee Head, on the chug team, and on the powderpuff team, Sure is super devoted to Sid and will help you all get adjusted. Further, whether indulging in a honey butter chicken biscuit or going for night walks, she's always up for an adventure. Additionally, Sure is always the life of the party, has a kindred personality, and is one of the most naturally funny people I have ever met, anticipate laughter. Sure is also a huge music fanatic, especially Taylor Swift, with some pretty aesthetic playlists. Get ready for the ride of your life if you catch her during elevator chats - you might even learn a TikTok dance!

Sure always in your corner whether you need a shoulder to cry on, someone to talk to, or a hug. She is very loyal and irreplaceable, and will stick by your side through the good and the bad. She has a huge heart for everyone in her life, including all of you now!

In all seriousness, Sure is very involved and very passionate, and she fully devotes herself to everything she sets her mind to. Y’all are very lucky to have Sure as your O-Week coordinator, and you will have the best time. Be excited! You have crossed paths with truly a gem on campus!

  • Is that your cool, classic rock loving uncle? Nope! It’s just Laura. A class of 2025 Neuroscience major hailing from San Antonio, Laura is the grooviest, most tubular future doctor/baker you’ll ever meet. Whether she’s chugging a large drip coffee from chaus (no milk) or listening to the Eagles’ entire discography, Laura’s always up for a good time. Also be sure to ask her about her passions for graphic design and saving lives on REMS. Never challenge her to a battle in Michael Jackson Dance Experience, because you will almost certainly lose (but she won’t make you feel bad about it, because she’s humble like that). If you’re ever looking for someone to share some breakfast tacos or get up to some crazy hijinks with, Laura’s your girl. Y’all are so lucky that she is the one coordinating your O-Week, and it guarantees that it will be the greatest week of all time!

  • Short king, rising junior Austin is always learning. From discovering Houston’s public transportation system (a life-changing moment for him even though he’s from Katy, TX) to unnecessarily optimizing the user interface of any device (a serious advocate for default wallpaper and the search bar at the bottom of the screen), Austin is always ready for new discoveries, except for outfits - he refuses to deviate from his tour guide shirt, pj pants, and indoor/outdoor crocs. When he’s not struggling to find iCloud storage (app icons and instagram dms do not load on his phone), this 20 year old business major indulges in many fixations including his Mailchimp account, Orbeez guns, and most recently the Super Mario Bros movie soundtrack.

Even though he doesn’t wash his rice and refuses to go to the doctor for an ear he has been unable to hear out of for months, you can always count on Austin to be there for you and welcome you to Sid with open arms! Just don’t ask him to give you a haircut or you might end up with an accidental mullet.
