Introduction to O-Week

Welcome to Camp Ω-Week (pronounced “Camp O-Week”)! We are so excited to have you on campus this August as you begin your college journey! The Rice experience has always begun with Orientation Week, or "O-Week," where all of the New Students come together for the first time. The main goal of O-Week is to introduce New Students to what life at Rice is all about, from the academic to social aspects, and to establish relationships that will last all four years of college and beyond. O-Week is a jam-packed, fun week with tours of the campus, bonding, academic advising, scavenger hunts, special Sid traditions, late nights, and so much more!

What is Camp Ω-Week?

This year, Camp Ω-Week's theme revolves around the grand adventure of exploring ancient mythology, where Greek and Roman gods collide. Embracing the spirit of Percy Jackson's world, campers will embark on a thrilling journey filled with epic quests, magical encounters, and the forging of everlasting friendships. As the realms of Olympus and Camp Ω-Week intertwine, Sidizens will discover their own heroic potential and unveil the captivating wonders of the mythological universe.

Camp Ω-Week hopes to cultivate a dynamic and inclusive community where creativity and growth are fostered. We aim to ensure our New Students experience a safe and happy welcome to Rice University and empower the newest generation of Sidizens by providing access to essential resources. 

With this in mind, Camp Ω-Week seeks to embody the following values during O-Week and beyond.

Frequently Asked Questions

  • Roommate assignments and room info will be sent out in late July! Check your email for the information.

  • Move-in day will be Sunday, August 13th! You’ll get specific details later in July.

  • Every new student is assigned an O-Week group for O-Week. You’ll stick with them the entire week, and get to know other new students in your college! Each group has 4-5 advisors, who you can find here.
