First Day Schedule

As you pull up to Sid’s tower, you will see your ecstatic and ridiculously loud Advisors jumping and screaming in excitement for your arrival. Don’t be surprised if they already know your name. They will be dressed in Sid t-shirts, and will be hard to miss! We will have a carpool line organized in our parking lot starting from Entrance 4. The Advising Team will help you unload your car and move your belongings inside. You won’t have to lift a finger!

We will give the drivers directions to park in West Lot, and there will be shuttles to bring them back to Sid. You will then be directed to get your official O-Week shirt designed by your amazing Coordinators, have your picture taken with the Sid banner by one of our O-Week Historians, and will have the pleasure of meeting our Magister, RAs, College Coordinator, and your O-Week Coordinators.

While this is happening, your Advisors will be moving all of your belongings to your room. To prepare for this, please label all belongings with your first and last name, O-Week group number, and room number (this information will be provided to you prior to O-Week). After that, you will pick up your keys and you may head to your room to unpack and meet your suitemates and talk to your family. Your move-in time will be provided to you in an email.

Please do not arrive prior to your assigned move-in time — the gates to Sid and Rice will not be open before then. Please do not come to campus before move-in day to move in your belongings, as we will still be preparing for your arrival. Your keys will not be available before move-in (unless you are a fall athlete here for preseason or international student who has been given a different date for arrival). Please do not be so late that you miss the important announcements at lunchtime! You will not be able to see your parents for the remainder of the week due to our packed schedule, so make sure to say your goodbyes at lunch. Then, your journey begins

What to Bring

Feel free to bring memories from home and other decorations for your room, but remember that you are sharing the space with other people, and that your space is limited. When you receive your roommate forms, please be sure to coordinate what you and your roommates/suitemates are bringing to Sid. You are also able to buy any smaller necessities from Target on Main Street or any of the other various stores around Houston, but be sure to have what you need ready on move-in day, as it will be a packed week and you likely won’t have time to run to the store.
