Meet Sophia Lannie, a rising senior majoring in Biosciences and Psychology from Mont Belvieu, Texas and the best college on campus: Sid Richardson! First of all, if you got Sophia as one of your Advisors, then congratulations! You lucked out! She is one of the sweetest people I know and will happily teach you how to make the best Seibel Servery food creations, go out dancing with you (did I mention she’s on the Rice Owls Dance Team?), and help you with all things housing and committees at Sid as your Vice President. You’re in good hands! Beyond that, if you’re looking for someone to win Harry Potter trivia with, tell you which Hunger Games district you’d be from, or watch all things vampires with (Twilight, Vampire Diaries, etc., you name it!), Sophia’s your girl. Get ready for an amazing first year at Rice with Sophia as your O-Week Parent!

Meet Wendy Jin!! Hailing from Princeton, New Jersey, Wendy is a rising junior majoring in Computer Science. Wendy is one of the kindest, friendliest, and coolest people you’ll ever meet, albeit a little indecisive, and is always down for a chinatown function, boba run, concert, or just a good time with friends. An enabler armed with a digicam, she’s as down to earth and sweet as the matcha or the heytea grape boom you might see her with. This O-Week, you’ll be in for a treat just as sweet, and with Wendy as your Advisor, you can rest assured knowing you’ll be in the best of hands!!

Legendary as his namesake, Luca Campbell is a Health Sciences sophomore from Sid on the pre-med track deriving from the perilous streets of Fairview, Texas. Chud yet academic, this jawn can do it all (except pingpong). When not drawing up abstract creations for his Orgo class, you’ll see him throwing around weights at the rec, playing volleyball or basketball, working at Pub, or munching on other people’s snacks (hide your cheezits). Looking for Luca? Don’t fret, he may not be 6 feet but just listen for the sound of ice cold drip and the iconic rustle of selvedge denim brushing against the suede of Timbs. He’ll always be down for a random sidequest to Insomnia Cookie at odd hours, dj for your hangouts, or study with you (aka play brawl stars while YOU study) for your next big exam. Get excited for your fav O-Week parent, seeeeeeeyuh.

Who’s that approaching with the most whimsical makeup you’ll see all day? It’s none other than Sarah Yoo!! This oboe performance major loves to express herself through music, makeup, fashion, and very impassioned storytelling. When she’s not endlessly practicing or locked away making reeds, she loves baking, thrifting, gaming, and a movie watch party (especially of the Ghibli or Barbie variety). A proud sophomore Sidizen from Prosper, Texas, Sarah can tell you all about transferring from SMU and living the crazy life of a music major. Passionate, hilarious, and a fan of all things cute, if you need someone to go thrifting with, grab a matcha, or have a tried and true rant session, Sarah’s your girl!

Look! Something’s in the water!! Is it a shark? Is it a submarine?! NO!!! It's Antony Saleh! Hailing all the way from Jerusalem, Antony is a rising sophomore at McMurtry College majoring in Computer Science and Cognitive Science and minoring in Design Engineering. Although he may be a STEMie, he also took a gap year traveling through 6 continents, so you can talk to him about anything and everything, from dream vacation to global affairs. In addition to being the Anthony Bourdain of Rice, he is also an OEDK demon and can help you with any repairs, whether it be as simple as using superglue or making room decor. If you were blessed by the cosmos and got Antony as your Advisor, rejoice! If not, don't be afraid to say hi to him around campus, as he is the friendliest guy around!
