Did you just see a 5 ft girl with pink fluffy hair, a colorful outfit, and tote in hand speed-walk by? Then you probably just caught a glimpse of the fashion killa herself—Sarai (Suh-rye) Abram! This Fort Worth native is always sidequesting, even accidentally into historical research! Whether it’s a night out dancing, a spontaneous sweet treat run, or a deep late-night yap session, she’s your girl. Sarai is a firm believer in cozy productivity and snacks over meals ...unless it's Chick-Fil-A, then she's all in. Her music taste? As vast and unpredictable as her interests which you’ll come to know! She’s also probably the only future corporate lawyer you’ll meet rocking a hot pink pantsuit while girlbossing her way through the big city. Get ready to know someone truly one of a kind—Sarai is the ultimate hype woman, always real, and always down to help you through it all!

Meet Ben, Class of 2027, hailing from Madison, New Jersey! This physics major is a proud Sidizen (aka resident of the best college). If you want to catch him in his element, find him with his camera in hand or battling it out in a fierce game of ping pong. That is, when he’s not busy cooking up a five-star meal in the Sid kitchen, jamming out to some sick beats (yap to him about music), or teaching the entire STEM curriculum to his peers. Whether it’s social, academic, or personal, Ben’s your guy. Jokes aside, with Ben, rest-assured, your time at Rice will be a hoot.

CONGRATULATIONS!!! You just won the genetic lottery because your O-Week Parent is none other than ABIGAIL VARGHEESE. A BioSciences major from Clinton, Mississippi, Abigail is simply the kindest person you’ll ever meet, always helping others while remaining the most humble. Abigail has no flaws (except maybe her measly 4 hours per day sleep cycle). She sings like an angel (because she is one), dances like a pro (catch one of her performances with Riyaaz, Rice’s premier bollywood fusion dance team), and makes the world’s best cinnamon rolls. This Sid Richardson senior doesn’t believe in playlists (has a singular ‘liked songs’ scroll), and if you’re in the car with her get ready for a full Hamilton singalong. Spice tolerance? Broken the scale. Down for a bollywood movie? Say less, she’s got sooo many recs for you. Abigail is everything you could ever wish for, know you’re in the best hands <3

Who’s the best personal radio and matcha barista known to man? It’s none other than Zach Mok! Hailing from the Houston suburb of Missouri City, this Hanszen sophomore (‘28) studies Spanish, Biology, and Medical Humanities on the pre-med track. When he’s not procrastinating his academic responsibilities by yapping or watching Korean café vlogs, he’s probably coordinating the Philharmonics’ next gig as their business manager! A skilled tenor in Rice’s premier a cappella group, you’ll hear him the second you step foot on campus…fr bro never stops singing, but his voice is angelic so it's okay! As an endless yapper in desperate need of money, Zach decided to get a job as an Owl Guide. His tour expertise means he’ll be able to show you around campus and tell you all about his favorite Houston food recs (he’d do ANYTHING for Hopdoddy’s truffle fries). He’s a star, he’s the moment, he can stand next to you (iykyk, which you will), he quite literally defies gravity (refer to his Rice’s Finest 2025 performance), and he’s going to be the best O-Week Parent/Community Facilitator you’ll ever get to know!

Gather ‘round for the rundown on one of your O-Week Parents. Michael’s a junior majoring in Electrical Engineering and Statistics. As the foremost Albuquerque hype-man, he will likely tell you about the wonders of his home city (the hype extends far beyond balloon festivals and Breaking Bad). On the side, he’s also a fan of Colorado and loves the Broncos and Avalanche. His hobbies include, but are not limited to, climbing, hiking, reading, watching “good” movies (most of the time he’s got great recs), and getting up to shenanigans whilst adventuring around Houston with friends (and come this fall, with y’all)! He also plans legendary Sid Goes Camping trips, and when he tries to convince you to sign up for one, you should listen… epic adventures will ensue, I pinky promise. Michael is one of the most trustworthy, kind, and loyal people you will ever meet (in fact, he’s never broken a pinky promise), so feel at ease knowing that he will always be in your corner for O-Week and beyond!
