Mickey Minaj: Super Siddy Girl

  • Introducing Lola-Maeve Eithne Cantillon—aka LMEC, but you can just call her Lola. This 5’3”, racially ambiguous bundle of sunshine, and hails from Livingston, New Jersey. Lola is a Computer Science and Managerial Economics and Organizational Sciences major (don’t worry, no one else knows what that means either), a fierce defender for Rice Lacrosse, and an associate with the Rice Student Venture Fund. She’s also a manager at Pub, where you’ll catch her finishing her assignments, participating in trivia, or talking to anyone and everyone. Lola’s obsessed with the ocean, always planning her next adventure (bonus points if there’s a beach), and never says no to a spontaneous trip, especially if it’s to Paris to see her family. Her love language is cheese, her happy place is anywhere near water, and her ears are always open if you need someone to talk to (or just someone to eat brie with).

  • Born in Sacramento and hailing from the birthplace of the Atomic Bomb, Andy is explosive in the pool, track, and classroom. When he’s not winning his third? Fourth? Fifth? (no one knows at this point) intramural swimming title, Andy is zooming on by everyone on the Beer Bike track! This former drum major and current trumpist of the MOB, or Marching Owl Band, (no he does not go out jumping people #friendlygiant) is time management's biggest fear, yes it fears him. When he’s not on one of his many sidequests, Andy can be found academic weaponing in the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen, Fondren, or the BioScience Research Collaborative for his Bioengineering major—if you see him studying and start a conversation just beware you might get caught in an hour long conversation that cooks you both. In his lack of free-time, Andy gets the work from his friends in ping-pong (please ask him about this!) and scarfs down an entire meal in two-minutes (feel free to pull out a stopwatch!). Overall, Andy is just a #chillguy <:).

  • YIPPEE! You got Marcus as your O-Week Parent, how lucky! Marcus Sandoval is a rising sophomore double majoring in Neuroscience and Cell Biology on the pre-med track. With his contagious smile and obsession with the chocolate milk from the servery, Marcus lights up any room he is in. While his enthusiasm never seems to know no bounds, he always has time to sit down and help with anything! He LOVES to yap whenever he can. His heart of gold not only makes him a great O-Wdanneek Parent but also a guy who is very involved with the Rice campus. Other than working on the Jacks Committee for Beer Bike, he also loves to dance to represent his Hispanic heritage in cultural events here at Rice, like Ritmo for the Hispanic Association for Cultural Enrichment at Rice. Be prepared to have this San Antonio native as your Advisor, your O-Week journey will never be the same.

  • Everyone needs a Harriet in their life. This sophomore comes from the fine state of Virginia (born in Maryland, though…) and is a BioSciences major on the pre-med track. I would trust this amazing pre-med girlie to be my doctor even before she goes to med school #whoneedsWEBMDwhenyouhaveHarriet. It's rumored she’s going to create the Sid intramural hobby-horsing team (look it up) just to compete in another intramural sport and guarantee Sid the President’s Cup for the third straight year (since being a star powderpuff, women's basketball, softball, soccer, and flag football player isn’t enough). Oh yeah, she’s also the goalie for Rice’s Club Soccer Team. Harriet makes the best study partner since she can lock in like no other, but you may need to bring a microscope because of how tiny her handwriting is. If she is your O-Week Parent, congratulations, you win for having the best parent ever.
