Lightning McQueen: Don't Stop Me Ka-Chow
-
Kory Ngo, a pre-med junior, majoring in stretching (Sports Medicine and Exercise Physiology) and minoring in nerd (Biochemistry and Cell Biology), made the long trek to Rice all the way from Sugar Land, Texas. You can usually find him at the Recreation Center moving BIG weight while playing Brawl Stars in between sets or procrastinating for his upcoming chem exam. Kory has every random skill imaginable in his tool-belt, whether it be playing the piano, destroying people at Word Hunt (send him one), or doing the splits (make him do this, I’ve never seen it). He enjoys bumming swipes at his home college of Sid and challenging everyone to games of ping pong. If you need a restaurant recommendation in Houston, he’s your guy (check out his Beli), and I challenge all of you to out eat him during O-Week (you can’t). The calories have to go somewhere and Kory spends them playing basketball and rock climbing (or scrolling Reels). This all around good dude will be your favorite Advisor and someone you can always talk to!

Take a second to thank your lucky stars because you got the best Advisor around, Tyra! This sophomore Mechanical Engineering major is here to help you build the most amazing foundation to your college experience. All the way from South Carolina, she’s a 5’2” pocketful of sunshine with an endless supply of knee slapping quips that’ll keep a smile on your face. But don’t let that short stature fool you, on the flag football field she’s the best 6’2” defensive linebacker you’ve ever seen. She might be picky with her food, but she’ll never be picky with lending a helpful hand or offering down to earth advice. If you’re trying to hunt her down you’ll probably find her with her robots in the Oshman Engineering Design Kitchen, or with her face in her iPad. Keep your eyes on her socks and prepare for the best time ever with Tyra “Hamburger” Helper!

Whether he’s passionately singing Ariana Grande while showering in the morning, biking for hours on end in the evening, or cooking up some extravaganza in the kitchen, Giulio Valfre Zaydenman—dubbed “Coolio” by his friends—makes sure to give it his all no matter what he’s doing. You might find this Bostonian senior saucing up his competition in intramural soccer, or playing tennis, pickleball, and basketball, or swimming, or lifting weights, or biking, or going on a long run, or rock climbing, or… you get the idea. However, this Iron Man isn’t a dummy. Outside of sports, you’ll see him speaking one of the five languages he’s mastered or studying for his Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering classes. He also happens to be one of the kindest people you’ll meet at Rice, and what he may lack in FIFA abilities, he makes up for with his humorous, welcoming nature.

This is Jordan (Jo) Rahmfeld, one of your Co-Advisors! Jo is a Computational Neuroscience major from the Bay Area, where she was a starter on her high school’s varsity Slam Poetry team. She is a rising sophomore in the Class of 2028, and a proud Hanszenite (HFHHHH). When she’s not getting saved (at the very last second) from musty dorms by her incredible new roommate (me), she enjoys Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, boba, and throwing down in Set.
