Phoebe Sophia Yoon has one of the BIGGEST hearts of people I know—she is exactly the kind of person you would want as your doctor (and maybe you will in the future!). Her love extends to everything including animals, musicals, choir, and Cane’s sauce but does NOT include bugs and many many kinds of fruits. Always surrounded by her pets (20+ and counting, ask her about her rabbits and dogs!), Phoebe is basically Snow White, if Snow White also liked NF and carried an EpiPen for mangoes, so basically not like Snow White at all. In her free time you can find her singing, snapping pictures on her new camera, or adeptly accomplishing tasks for one of her many leadership/volunteering positions. Allergic to half the produce aisle but fully committed to Nothing Bundt and ice cream cakes, Phoebe is a joyful and steady presence to be around!!

Charlotte Anne Tompkins exists. Mostly she exists at Rice, though her home exists in Dallas, Texas. Currently, she hasn’t slept in too many days, and her eyes feel like they are about to fall out of her head. But she promises she will sleep a bit before trying to advise you lovely folks. She is mostly studying Chemical Engineering with a bit of Classical Studies on the side. She intends to graduate in 2028, and the odds for that are currently looking pretty good. When she is not studying, which is a more frequent occurrence than it should be, she is playing board games, running, reading books, or talking about books. You might ask what makes her qualified to be a Peer Academic Advisor.

Dobar den!! In need of academic advice, a good conversation, or caffeine in any form you could possibly imagine? Well, you’re in luck: meet Miroslav Minchev (or Miro for short), the best PAA you’ll ever meet! Miro is a junior Sidizen, a Chemistry major and Data Science minor (money-making machine), and hails all the way from Stara Zagora, Bulgaria, but is the most Texan person you’ll ever meet (he’s been to the Rodeo and knows the whoooole pledge of allegiance). This pre-grad academic weapon loves to TA and is always there to lend a helping hand if you have questions regarding science or chemical biology research. When he’s not in lab (and he’s always in lab) or studying in McNair, Miro loves catching up on TV, getting hot pot with friends, and adding to his ever-growing collection of pictures with Nobel prize-winners. Get ready for an amazing O-Week with Miro around!

Meet Anastasia Loiko (Sid ‘27)! Hailing from Austin, this well-rounded academic weapon is pursuing a dual degree in Neuroscience and Mathematics. In addition to her gazillion bits of stationery, Anastasia’s never-ending aesthetic chalkboard math notes and collection of hardcover notebooks can inspire any demotivated Sidizen to achieve their A game. When you need a study break, she’s got your back too! She’d love to make you matcha, show you her skillful—not to mention therapeutic—crocheting, or take you bird-watching (a roseate spoonbill once peed on her but the pictures were worth it 👌). If she’s not at her two other homes (Sid 2nd Floor or Herman Brown’s Math Lounge), you can find Anastasia at Shepherd reconnecting with her musical side (aka practicing piano + planning which music concert to attend next). Most importantly though, she’s diligent, trustworthy and honest, so rest assured that your academic endeavors are in great hands!
