  • YOOOOO you’re looking at the best o-week advisor!! Hailing from the largest and most relevant state of Connecticut, Katherine (Katie) Voong is a sophomore from Murt majoring in health sciences on the pre-med track (allegedly) (she’s a lil confused lol). When Katie isn’t studying for chem (@ 5am), she’s watching tzuyang mukbangs or playing burger shop 2.0. My fav memory w/ her was trying the chamoy pickle kit, so you alr know Katie is a big foodie. Katie is also in Basyk (kpop dance group) – so you’ll always see her in the center of the mosh pit. more importantly. Katie is gonna be a cornerstone of your rice experience bc she’s also part of cornerstone christian fellowship (ccf)! real talk – Katie is the sweetest person ever and the best roommate i could ever ask for. You are so so lucky to have her as an o-week mom!

  • A proud midwesterner and even prouder Sidizen, Audrey Weadick is a golf queen, MatLab champion, and pea milk enthusiast from Libertyville, IL. Audrey plans to graduate in 2027 majoring in Computational and Applied Mathematics (very different from pure math, thank you very much). Outside being a math whiz, she’s also pursuing a minor in French Studies. If you ever need help with your code or a companion for an impromptu trip to Rice Village, Audrey’s your gal. You can also pop up to eighth-floor commons to find her working or watching reality TV with her friends (“Too Hot to Handle,” anyone?). Audrey’s as bubbly and caring a person as they come, always ready to greet you with a smile and a hug. As a Sid secretary and member of infinitely many intramural sports teams, she truly loves Sid Rich and is excited to help incoming students during and after O-week!

  • If you see a 6’2” Korean man with a messy fringe running around campus, odds are you are witnessing Jonah Yi in his natural element. Perhaps he’s on his way to acapella practice for Nocturnal. Or you might find him in Sammy’s Hall, completing campaigns with his DnD group. Maybe he’s holed up in Duncan Hall, working for his research lab. Amidst it all, it can be tough for Jonah to remain balanced (and awake, considering his sleep schedule). Luckily, his thermos is always handy, full of carefully selected coffee or tea. Although he lacks night time discipline, he’s very down-to-earth with a big heart to match his height. He might also be down-to-play-League-with-you (apparently League players don’t like admitting they play League). So if you want to chat about clubs, research, or anything else in your budding college career, please reach out.

  • And the Oscar for luckiest new student goes to… YOU, since you have Campbell Uyeki as your advisor! This senior from Austin, Texas is just like her favorite food, tomatoes: she’s got a lot of layers (lowkey that might be onions idk). A Chemical Physics major and Ecology minor, she loves to garden at Rice Urban Agriculture. She’s also a big name in the on-campus mechanic world in her job at Rice Bikes; many call her the LeBron James of bike repair. On a more genuine note, she’s also one of the sweetest people you’ll ever get to meet. As Sid’s head RHA, she’s a professional best friend and confidant. Strike up a conversation with her, and you’ll get to know someone who’s an incredible friend, and an even better person. Just never ask her what happened on the morning of February 25th, 2024. Trust me, you don’t wanna know.
